With the restart of nuclear power in China, it is expected that about 7 units will be put into operation every year in 2015 and 2016, and the demand for zirconium materials for new units will recover rapidly
Reaction of zirconium powder with oxygen:Dense metal zirconium is very stable in air, but with the increase of temperature, it absorbs oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen, and reacts with CO and CO2 at high temperature.
Commercial grade titanium (99.2% purity) has an ultimate tensile strength of about 434 MPa, similar to low-grade steel alloys, but 45% lighter than steel alloys. The density of titanium is 60% higher than that of aluminum, but the strength is twice that of the common 6061-T6 aluminum alloy.
Zirconium easily absorbs hydrogen and forms a variety of zirconium hydride mesophase. When the temperature is higher than 300 ℃, zirconium reacts with hydrogen. When the temperature reaches 400 ℃, the reaction speed is accelerated and solid solution is formed.
